Overview
Queen Elizabeth National Park, spanning Kasese and Rubirizi districts near the Congo border, was established in 1952, originally named Kazinga National Park. Renamed in honor of Queen Elizabeth II after her visit, it’s Uganda’s second-largest park, following Murchison Falls. Known for tree-climbing lions in Ishasha and the channel linking Lake George and Lake Edward to the DR Congo, it also hosts chimpanzees in Kyambura Gorge and over 600 bird species.
